The Jungle Book
I am trying to build my portfolio at little at the moment, and it's giving me a chance to play and practice using paper and collage. I’ve really enjoyed working on this cover, creating different leaf shapes and mixing the different shades of green.
I'm
really pleased with the outcome of this cover. In my next post I’m hoping that I
will have some images of this cover and the James and the Giant Peach cover on
book mock-ups!
As
always feel free to give any feedback on my work :)

My Olympic Snails
These are my sporty snails, made for a rather loosely based Olympic theme. After the project ended I wanted to take the snails outside and photograph them racing amongst the foliage!

Wishing on a star
These are some photos of my summer project work, we were asked to illustrate superstitions. I did this ages ago back in August last year and it has been sat on my desk in uni ever since. It seems all my work ends up being 3D. I love working in layers and having my work 3D means that i get a real depth to my work.

Graduate Exhibition
I know it has been a while since I posted anything, but I have had
a very busy couple of weeks. I have now finished all of my Uni work it’s all
handed in to be marked :/. Anyway above are the images of what I put into my
graduate exhibition. I was really pleased with how the three elements looked
next to each other and along side the rest of my groups work. The stage set it
self was in 3D and nicely broke up the amount of 2D work across the
walls.
I have had a few emails from people interested in seeing some more
of my work having seen it at the exhibition, which is really exciting! Fingers
crossed something will come from it :)

Puppet Theatre Stage
So, over the past couple of weeks I have been working on the stage
for my puppet show. The totem poles create the edges of the stage and
incorporate my main characters: the crow, Rabbit and Raccoon. The backdrop was
inspired by a number of images of American landscape I was keen to have a
mountain range and grass land. There is still much work to be done! Stay tuned
to see the next developments.

Miscellaneous Sideshow Exhibition
This was my submission for the second year exhibition at my University. The exhibition had an overall theme which was the sideshow. Though my work was based more on our inner beasts, and the journey we that we take with them through out our lives. I Used a second hand wall cupboard thinking that having my work hidden behind a door would add intrigue to piece. on the night of the private view i heard people asking each other what was behind the door so suspicious as to what was there they didn't want to open it themselves.Which i thought was fab! just what i wanted.

Dissertation Front Cover
I finally finished and handed in my dissertation almost a month ago. Having spent the last month trying to forget about the whole ordeal i thought i about time to post some images of the final thing. It was focused on the rise of handmade methods of working in illustration. It felt right then that the front cover reflect the writing in side. The cover is cut out by hand, it is made up of simple silhouettes of tools that can be used to create illustrations by hand. When i get a copy back i'll try and take another photo that shows you the delicacy of the cover :)

First Native Headdress
My first Native American Headdress
I need to create a headdress for my characters in the American Indian Folk tale that i am currently working on. I really love this outcome. The headdress is made from a combination of lino printed feathers, hand stitched details and digital colouring. Whilst i do really love the outcome i think that this style is too radically different to my characters. Maybe i'll save it to be used for something else!
